Registered Nurse (RN) Scholars Program

Registered Nurse (RN) Scholars Program

Are you a registered nurse looking for a convenient and economical avenue to earn a BSN degree?

About

The Registered Nurse (RN) Scholars Program is for RNs who seek to expand their knowledge for personal and professional growth for success in a dynamic health care arena.  This program will provide the necessary skills for advancement in clinical roles, leadership positions, and allow for greater mobility for those considering graduate study in nursing.

Why a BSN Degree in Nursing is in Demand

  • According to Linda Aiken, PhD, RN, FAAN, director of the Center for Health Outcomes and Policy Research at the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Nursing, “hospitals that employ larger numbers of BSN-prepared nurses have lower patient mortality rates”.
  • The link between nurse education and patient outcomes has been confirmed through multiple studies conducted by Dr. Aiken and her colleagues.
  • BSN nurses are highly sought after. Hospitals across the country are now requiring at least a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • The Institute of Medicine (IOM) has recommended that 80 percent of the nation’s nurses hold a bachelor’s degree or higher by 2020 in order to meet the increasingly complex patient needs.
