Commuter Student Life
The University invites commuting students to engage in the life of the community through participation in academic and co-curricular programs, involvement in student clubs and organizations, and utilization of campus services.
The Center for Student Engagement is a great resource for commuting students as they seek to get involved on campus. Stop by the Butler Student Forum (DeNaples Center 205) or e-mail commuter@scranton.edu.
There are many lounge spaces and study spaces across campus, and one of the easiest ways for commuters to make connections and join our community is to spend time on campus. We are excited to have the Commuter Student Lounge, which opened in spring 2024, as a new space where you can spend your free time between classes and make connections with other commuters. Commuter students are invited to utilize the refrigerator, microwave, TV, and board games in the space. Additional seating and community space is available just outside the Commuter Student Lounge in the Butler Student Forum area. The Commuter Student Lounge and the Butler Student Forum are located in DeNaples 205, above the Multicultural Center.
The student-led Commuter Student Association (CSA) is an active student club that hosts a variety of programs designed to help students create community on campus. Signature programs include Coffee Hours, Bob Ross Paint Nights, Murder Mystery Dinners, and Restaurant Fest. There are opportunities for first-year students to get involved so be sure to check out CSA! Follow CSA on Instagram at @uofs_csa.
Commuter Day: The Royal Way: Save the date for August 11, 2025! Get to know your fellow commuters, gain information about the University (including help finding your specific classes!), and get tips from Commuter Student Association members about life as a commuter at The University of Scranton (Commuter lockers? Parking? Meal plans? Where to spend time in between classes?). There is no cost to participate in this program. More information will be shared this summer, so stay tuned!

SET UP YOUR THIRD PARTY ACCESS With Third Party Access, students can provide account access to another person, allowing them to view student information, such as grades, schedules, Financial Aid and billing information. Instructions can be found at scranton.edu/thirdparty.

All current students can download Microsoft Office Professional for up to five personal devices at no charge. The license can be used on computers, as well as Apple, Android and Microsoft mobile devices. Microsoft Office includes full copies of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, and OneNote. The licensing remains valid as long as you are an enrolled student. For more information and download instructions, visit scranton.edu/office365.

The University does not sell computers, but we do have a special agreement with Dell to offer special deals/promos and rewards for computer purchases. For more information on these discounts and services, visit dell.com/Scranton. Students can also receive academic discounts from the Apple Education store for iPads, Mac computers and Apple TV.
