On choosing my major
"I chose my major because I want to help vulnerable populations communicate and thrive. I'm especially passionate about working with children with disabilities and hope to work in a school setting where I can support their communication and academic success. I'm also exploring the possibility of working in a hospital setting to help children with more medically complex needs or working as a feeding/swallowing specialist for babies in the NICU. Ultimately, I want to be an advocate for those whose voices often go unheard and make a meaningful difference in their lives."
On getting involved at Scranton
"I’ve been fortunate to be involved in several organizations that reflect my passions and values. I’m a member of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association and the Neurodiversity Inclusion Association, both of which have deepened my understanding of communication differences and inclusivity. Through my work as a social media coordinator and work-study student in the Center for Service and Social Justice (CSSJ), I’ve been able to promote meaningful initiatives while building strong connections on campus.
I’ve also grown spiritually and personally by serving as a Manresa retreat leader with Campus Ministries. I loved getting involved with mentoring opportunities and participating in the STARS program with Marywood University. I also mentor students through the Meg Cullen Brown SMART program on campus with CSSJ. Each of these roles has challenged me to grow as a leader, advocate, and future clinician. They've helped make Scranton feel like home and have connected me with this amazing community!"
On choosing Scranton
"I chose Scranton because of the strong sense of community I felt the moment I stepped on campus — it instantly felt like home. The beautiful campus drew me in, but it was the people and the caring environment that truly made it special."
On my favorite Scranton memory
"One of my favorite Scranton memories is participating in an international service trip to Juticalpa, Olancho, Honduras through the Center for Service & Social Justice. We immersed ourselves in Honduran culture and explored inclusive education by visiting schools, including one for students with disabilities. That experience opened my eyes to global perspectives on education and deepened my commitment to serving others."
